One of our favorite places to hike in Central Oregon, Smith Rock, located 15 miles from Bend in Redmond, Oregon, is a world-renowned rock-climbing area and home of the 350 ft spire, Monkey Face, which is the center of Smith Rock.
Prineville offers a mix of outdoor recreation and natural beauty and is a great midway point to stay while visiting the diverse fossils of the well-known Painted Hills in the northwest town of Mitchell, Oregon.
La Pine, 30 miles south of Bend and just 60 miles north of Crater Lake, offers you an abundance of areas to explore. Fish, bike, hike, and just R & R will be waiting for you at LaPine, a city that is set in the Little Deschutes River tributary.
